IDA BASAR (Est. November 8, 1990)

IDA BASAR is one of the first private companies in Lithuania.

Activities: foodservice, hospitality, party service, retail.

The company has worked in Strasbourg (1997) and Milan (1999), at the European parliament (2004), and at Berlin’s Rotes Rathaus (2006).

The company catered for the President of Lithuania from 2005 to 2008.

In 1998 IDA BASAR was recognized as the most hospitable restaurant in Vilnius.

In the first three Lithuanian Cook, Bartender and Waiter Championships (1997-1999) IDA BASAR was the winner of the Grand Prize and Gold

and Silver medals.

In 2000 the company was recognized as the best managed establishment in the Vilnius Old Town.

In 2006 the founders of IDA BASAR were awarded the Royal Belgian Order of Leopold II.

Experts who have consulted and trained company personnel:

P.F. Walter – German winner of 18 gold medals; M. Hemery – CESO expert from Canada; J. Scherer – chef of the renowned L’ancienne Douane restaurant in Strasbourg; Patrick Pages – chef and expert on French cuisine; and R.J. van Zijst – NMCP consultant from the Netherlands.

Short history:

1991–1992: IDA BASAR shop and restaurant

1993 – Wholesale department (distribution for Bavaria-St.Pauli-Brauerei AG, Bacardi Rum, Gebr. Heinemann)

1994 – Catering department, guest house

1995 – Restaurant in Palanga, the first karaoke café in Lithuania

1997 – Café “Prie Katedros“ in Vilnius

1999 – Bar-café “Degantis rusys”

2003 – Lithuanian Culinary Heritage Museum
